This outdoor summer camp will be held on our South Road Campus at 1157 South Road, Wakefield for two weeks in July (8th – 19th).  This is the perfect time to be outside and exploring the natural word while having fun together. Children ages 4-8 years old are welcome to attend.

MORE DETAILS
Children will arrive each morning greeted by teachers in our wooded play yard to settle in for the day.  Hiking, playing, crafting, singing, and joy will fill the morning, working up an appetite for a healthy snack. More activities will follow until it is time to share lunch together.
Every day will consist of the same rhythm of events, with each event offering new fun. The week’s activities will reflect one of two themes: The Enchanting Elements:  Earth, Air, Sun, and Water; and The Magical Woodlands:  Elves, Gnomes, and Faeries.
This summer camp is for CHILDREN AGES 4-8 and runs FROM JULY 8 – JULY 19 with one week sessions.  CAMP HOURS are 9am to 1pm, Monday-Friday.  We will provide snack once per day, while parents will pack a healthy lunch.

MEET OUR CAMP DIRECTOR:  KELLY HANKS

MWS Nature Studies teacher Kelly Hanks is thrilled to be Director of Meadowbrook’s Summer Camp this year! As both a Waldorf-trained and Environmental Studies-trained teacher, she will continue Meadowbrook’s wonderful offering of a nature- and art-based camp experience for children at our South Road campus. Kelly is well-versed in this campus’ forests and pond from her role as Nature Studies teacher, and is excited to take advantage of the summer season’s possibilities for exploring the environment.

Kelly will be tapping into her previous work leading school groups at URI’s W. Alton Jones Environmental Campus and teaching Yoga classes for children on Aquidneck Island, to share her passion for the arts, games, gardening, fairies, mud, food, and everything in between!

Kelly shared, “I read Rachel Carson’s Sense of Wonder more than 18 years ago and immediately realized my life’s mission: “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, [s]he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.”
